Blooming in the Cold Spell

A cold spell blows in, and the joy of an early spring fades into the background. Frost lines the roof tops. Petals fall to the ground. New sprouts remain frozen in position, waiting for warmer days to come.

The change in weather causes us to place our summer clothes back in the closet, turn on the heat, and zip up our jackets. Our bodies feel cold again. But our spirits don't have to feel this way. There is an inner warmth, a deeper delight, and an awaiting zeal for life that is always ready to emerge and comfort us, no matter what our external circumstances.

When Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, the sun can shine in our hearts everyday. When we stand on God's promises, our spirit can blossom everyday. When we remember the Lord's faithfulness and trust in Him, growth can happen in every situation. For our joy comes not from what happens around us, but from the Kingdom of God that lives within us. Rejoice and be glad, for this is the day the Lord has made!
